How To Kill Bombers Exclusive by Mike Sullivan, Crime Editor Cops have been issued with a chilling manual telling how to trap and kill suicide bombers in Britain. Snipers will be deployed as soon as a suspect is spotted. But if marksmen cannot get to the scene, an officer with an automatic pistol will kill the terrorist with a bullet in the brain at close range. The instructions state: "Where a supect carrying a bomb has been identified and immediate action is necessary, deliver a critical head shot with a 7.62mm rifle. "Where there is no rifle cover, deliver a critical head shot with 9mm rounds by a covert specialist firearms team." Officers are told that fanatics will not hesitate to set off their bomb "if challenged or consider the mission compromised". The confidential training dossier - seen by The Sun - says "You are not faced with a situation where you can negotiate with the suspect." It goes on: "The aim is to identify, locate and neutralise the threat." Prime Minister Tony Blair warned last month that an attack on Britain by al-Qa'ida terrorists was "inevitable". A security source told The Sun: "The plans are aimed at providing the maximum protection for the public." The manual tells unarmed officers to seek assistance immediately they believe they have spotted a suicide bomber. An example scenario describes how a drug raid in London uncovers Algerian passports of a man and woman - and photos of Downing Street. Pictures of the pair are circulated and a huge security operation swings in to action. The couple are seen walking out of St James's Park Tube station in London and the woman buys flowers. They separate and head towards a building where Mr Blair is speaking. Israeli demonstrators are in nearby Parliament Square. The man approaches the protest and is shot dead by a police sniper - but no explosives are found on him. Meanwhile, the woman puts down the flowers and mumbles in prayer as she walks on. A police chief orders a marksman to kill her but he knows of the other shooting and refuses. The woman then detonates a bomb strapped to her body - killing herself and 15 others. The plans to foil such bombers were drawn up by the terrorism committee of the Association of Chief Police Officers. They received advice from colleagues in Israel and Sri Lanka. --------------- The Sun, 8th February 2003
